I just chatted with spme friends who had to take a hiatus from their dream vacation cycling through Italy and France due to the heat wave across Western Europe. Fortunately it looks like they may be able to resume the trip shortly.

Some of you know the name Lytton, a town in BC which burnt down during the heat dome of 2021 when the all time Canadian record for high temperatures was broken by almost 5C. (That's 9F for those of you still using the old fashioned scale.)

There was already a fire near Lytton causing some evacuations when yesterday -- the 4th anniversary of the heat dome fire -- a new fire sparked and threatened Lytton from the other side. Fortunately the weather has helped and the second fire is classified as held for now, It would be such a blow to get burnt out again only partially through the rebuild.
