Fair enough = literary licence. I'm happy with generalisations, stereotypes, approximations, metaphor, analogy and near enough for government work. But one must be circumspect if gearing up seriously, and become intricately detailed with actual action.

I prefer not trying to wind back clocks when the precision of reversal is too lost in history. For example so called reparations for brown people for slavery is totally absurd. But some things can be precisely reversed even if to a descendant rather than the actual person affected. For example a stolen family heirloom.

Islamic jihad lost ground bigly for 200 years. They became generally polite and largely reasonable. But oil cash flow and the decline of Eurostan due to self harm has revved then up to conquering mode once again.

Iran went full jihad and burka. But I was corrected as their nuclear reactor ideas apparently got going under the shah. I thought it was only the decades ago.

It was evident that the mullahs wanted atomic bombs when they planned a hugely expensive and vulnerable pipeline to India instead of burning that gas at home, with India building a nuclear reactor, thereby saving the pipeline cost and risk and avoiding their atomic reactor plans also being bombed, which they have now been.

There's the world of Islam and the outside world of jihad, with infidels to be conquered. So yes, it's us vs them. When being attacked it's surrender or die.
