Saw the "F1" movie with a visitor this weekend and thought it pushed all the right buttons for a sports movie. The action is great, of course. Supposedly most of the technical details are pretty good too. The games they play with race strategy are like the lawyers on "Law and Order": no real pro would dare to try to get away with them in a real race, but they give the plot a fun twist here.

The movie also takes a sensitive look at characters and motivations, which is a big step up from some earlier racing movies.

I would certainly rank "Rush" and maybe "Ford vs. Ferrari" ahead of it, but "F1" was better than I feared.
