Bob, I bought 4 sun gold plants putting in 5 gal buckets, thanks for the tip. I got a tip for you on making new soil using lawn grass clippings and fall leaves. Leaves make the best soil, but it takes a long time to compost them, so the tip is how to make the compost time in just a few months. Compost started after the leaves are down will have black soil by April.

You will need a large pile of mowed grass clippings then in fall a large pile of leaves. Use a Toro Vaccuum/blower to suck up the leaves and turn them into small pieces as they go through the blades. Need a 20-gallon water hose lawn broadcast sprayer, six pack of beer, six pack of regular red cap coke and a quart of ammonia.

Here is a Youtube video on the procedure. Switch to mostly leaves then grass in layers spraying each layer with the mixture. Cover the pile with a tarp and by April in my latitude you will have black soil. Link to a youtube video on the procedure below.

Grass to Garden Soil in 14 Days! Drunken Composting Using Beer, Cola, & Ammonia!

I discovered this by accident. I had vacuumed up all the leaves in my yard with the Toro Vac/blower and emptied the bag into a larger contractor bag from Home Depot and stored it under my lawn mower shed. Out of sight, forgot about it couple years. One day looked under the shed, saw it pulled it out opened it and found the most beautiful black soil ever. I was amazed at what had happened to the leaves.

Did a Google search on composting, found the above video, tried it and holy cow, did it ever work fast.
