The few times that a person in my life was acting like the government now is, I found out later that the person was cheating.

The government is lying about Jeffrey Epstein. Either they were lying then, or they’re lying now, maybe both.
Since I know how much the government was lying about Trump, I tend to believe "lying then" is more likely. But if we have to eat crow simply for being skeptics, then I don't mind sharing with our fellow skeptics who we helped get into office.

Yes, Trump is usually right in the end, but Roseanne catches the mood pretty well here:
