Same in Beijing 2003, London 1974 = disgusting air full of soot, 1 nitropyrene, lead, asbestos brake powder, particulates from millions of tons of coal.
Beijing air was so bad that in a clear blue sky, driving back from the great wall, the deep red sun simply disappeared as it got to about 30 degrees above the horizon as it headed for sunset. Desert dust added to the brew. No wonder China is leading in electric cars and they're planting the desert. Even so, swarms of people smoked cigarettes.
Air conditioning is expensive in cars. I suppose they're saving fuel. And at low speeds it's nicer to have windows open. But not if following billowing smokey diesels.
Hi Alan. I'm just passing by. Funny to think it's now thirty years since I got going in Silicon Investor. "Internet time" has gone through a time dilation process so whole decades go by with time not moving. The theory of relativity needs redesign to explain that phenomenon. But there's also the phenomenon I jokingly asked my old grandmother about sixty years ago when I noticed time was going faster and faster. She said yes, and it goes faster all the way. Here I am approaching her age then and she was right, unsurprisingly.
Apparently a photon, when viewed from its own frame of reference, leaves and arrives at the same time. I guess Internet time, reality time and photon time are all measuring the same thing somehow.
Physics hasn't finished being invented because we really have no idea what's going on. Turtles all the way down, or simulations all the way down, Gods all the way up, divine rule of kings, dog eat dog or god eat god, strings/neutrinos/photons/singularities... Something's going on.
Meanwhile the chimps keep fighting in Ukraine, Gaza and everywhere else to a greater or lesser extent. These days, they mostly wear pants while fighting, so they're not exactly chimps. Obama started it and I know it's considered rude to make chimp comparisons but one can't help but notice the similarities.
