I wasn't going to post this but your message changed my mind.

I spent an afternoon at an automotive glass supplier in Troy MI last week in a sales engagement (I push software) and they brought up the topic of smart glass, touting that their customers can customize the "shading" in different zones. I asked what tech they were using and (not surprising), they said PDLC; going on to say that it allows occupants to individually control the "opacity" of their sunroofs, etc...

I "respectfully" pointed out that people are cooking in those cabins because that tech only scatters light. I think that caught them off guard because that is not why I was there. I went on and asked if they know about SPD, which they said YES. But they said that SPD is not capable of having individual "zones". Shocked, I suggested that they research the Celestiq. It got a little uncomfortable at that point and the conversation concluded when they said they are very pleased with their "smart glass" supplier. I asked who it was but they would not divulge.

Bottom line is that this is a MAJOR Tier 1 supplier and they are clueless about the benefits of SPD Vs PDLC. While we all know the decision is made at the OEM level, it is still unacceptable that these Tier 1's have zero clue about the differentiators of these technologies.

If Gauzy is their supplier, then shame on them.
