EQT Corp. (NYSE: EQT) said Tuesday it signed a deal to supply natural gas to power the 4.4 GW facility that will serve the Homer City Energy Campus, a planned 3,200-acre artificial intelligence and high-performance computing data center campus in Pennsylvania currently under construction and anticipated to begin producing power in 2027.
The project will transform the site that previously was home to Pennsylvania's largest coal-burning power plant into a next-generation power and data infrastructure hub, combining high-performance AI computing with a fully integrated, on-site natural gas generating station.
EQT (NYSE: EQT) said it will serve as the exclusive gas supplier to the project, providing supply through both the Texas Eastern Transmission and Eastern Gas Transmission & Storage pipeline systems.
The transaction, which will unlock natural gas supply of up to 665K MMBtu/day, is one of the largest single-site natural gas purchases in North American history, the companies said.
GE Vernova ( GEV) will supply seven high-efficiency 7HA.02 natural gas turbines for the Homer City project, with deliveries set to begin in 2026; Kiewit Power Constructors is leading engineering, procurement, and construction. |
