The solution isn't all that complicated; over time, just replace all fossil fuels with clean electricity.
The solutions are always simple to those who don't have to implement the systems.

There exist a remarkably small number of people with the mind and tenacity to convert your "simple" solution to actionable trillion dollar operations.

Keep in mind, that while Obama was spewing money to no end on the "climate change agenda" and Solyndra, Musk was planning and executing a plan to actually do something.

This is the difference between entrepreneurship and government bureaucrats. They both spend money, but government does NOTHING with it but line the pockets of ever more bureaucrats.

Unfortunately, the "new knowledge" you refer to may or may not stand the test of time. This is how the scientific method works. The problem is that everyone is too busy trying to find something to hang their names on that no one is doing the hard stuff of checking the work of others.

Feynman famously addressed this issue, that which is relying on the science of others rather than trying to replicate it. No fun redoing someone else's work so you can put THEIR name on it! But it is an essential part of the process.
