I think that's because the public is not educated enough to understand (or care) about the distinction between technologies. Once it becomes more mainstream, then maybe we will see these marketing geniuses spill the beans. On the other hand, maybe that's why Cadillac did tout SPD, because they paid more to use it instead of PDLC.

In any case, its interesting to see what companies prioritize a good customer experience (and certainly good will) over cost cutting and deceptive marketing.
