People like you worship what you refer to as Great Men. Who need to think there are those who are superhuman among us. And, if they attach themselves to them, that greatness will rub off.

Kings, high priests and autocrats throughout history encourage that. It is also instinctive, it is how chimps and other great apes structure their societies. It isn't rational, but as you demonstrate over and over again, those enmeshed in the cult can be endlessly rationalizing.

It is magical thinking and has no basis in reality.

Yours is a Star Wars universe where if you are born with the right midichlorians/genes, you are destined for Greatness, if not, well someone has to make the 0.01% possible. Sucks to be you, but disposability is your destiny. I mean, slaves rub shoulders with robots, and might have a lower status.

What kills me is you want to pretend it is a meritocracy.

Personally, I prefer Star Trek, specifically Star Fleet. It is a real meritocracy, albeit with some notable exceptions. It doesn't matter who you are or who you know, what matters is what you do. Kirk, Picard even Barkley didn't get to where they were because they knew someone or spouted the party line. They were accomplished, with varying degrees of self-confidence.

And they sure as shit don't have the decorticated.
