Conclusion, take great care of your keys and you will never be hacked.

If you have your keys, and you have $$ hundreds of millions or $$ billions in crypto (or hell, maybe even just $2 million!!), some evil thug may grab you and cut your fingers off one by one until you decide your remaining fingers are worth more than that crypto. This loss and theft potential is one of the big negatives (in my view) of not having the bank in between you and your assets, protecting your assets, ensuring that someone inherits your assets when you pass, etc.

Crypto theft is booming as criminals increasingly turn to physical attacks

cnbc.com

  • So far this year, $2.17 billion has been stolen from crypto services — already eclipsing 2024's amount, according to a report from Chainalysis.
  • The total amount of crypto stolen from both platforms and individuals is nearing $3 billion amid a spike in attacks on individual crypto wallets.
  • It comes as there have been multiple headlines this year about crypto entrepreneurs and their relatives being targeted with physical violence.
