That was quite a 24 hours in BC!

Thanks to extreme hear plus dry lightning, the number of active fires in BC doubled to 120. The weather is cooling off, but the threat of lightning remains, particularly in the interior. We are hoping we can get through without too much more activity until the expected rain next week.

Thanks to the location of most of the fires in remote areas, there are only a few evacuation orders in place, plus a number of evacuation alerts. Alarming to the locals, the two most active fires are near Lytton and West Kelowna, which have both already suffered catastrophic fire losses in the last few years.
