Sounds like some similarities here. My son was heavily into research with the EPA during/after obtaining his Master's & PhD from U of GA in Wildlife Biology with expertise in Apex Predators, Microplastics, and Insecticide/Herbicide residues in soil/air/water. Now he's a 3rd year med student and thoroughly enjoying his 'new' career.
He has been a regular user of RDDT for several years. He has been an active user/member of several subreddits (and there are subreddits in those categories mentioned above, amazingly, from all over the globe) and has had nothing but good experience. I'm not sure that I still have much time to utilize this 'service', but my son told me about last year's IPO, as he was going to buy as close as possible (we both got in at $49/sh) to the IPO last year, via trimming some holdings in his 401K. I decided to follow his lead and both of our holdings have more than tripled. I actually added a fair chunk earlier this year, when RDDT crashed back down into the $95 range after being in the $200 range. Blame it on those youngsters.
Perhaps if it keeps going, I will recoup his undergraduate expenses and part also of those of his sister! I may even recoup the dot.com becoming the dot.bomb debacle/significant loss, back in the days of Bernie Sanders and WorldCom...
