i would be interested in responses from u.s. shareholders. since trading in the stock was suspended through 12/31/97, does this mean that for income tax purposes, npa is a "worthless stock" as far as the i.r.s. is concerned. i know that it is not necessary to sell the stock in order to deduct the loss, but i wonder whether the facts and circumstances here are reasonable justification for claiming that npa is "worthless." opinions, anyone?
