Meanwhile in Canada our "temporary" income tax rate of 2% to fund WW1 is now 53.5% (top end, comes quickly) in Ontariowe. Total tax bill unknown. Some try to calculate but government wastrels need a lack of transparency... keep em dumb and on the farm?

Tariffs are idiotic. So are any taxes that distort markets and punish saving and investment.
Canada has a chance to eliminate income and corporate taxes, and install only a consumption tax. On everything from milk to lambos (exceptions by the wastrels will lead us back to where we are today, and huge overheads again in government).

Benefits -
transparency for taxpayers - more accountability by government
encourages saving and investment
no annual filing - time savings, simplied life, hours returned to every taxpayer/filer
Foreign headoffices will come to Canada
Investment will come to Canada
Standard of living will increase dramatically- we should afterall have the highest GDP per capita in the world
Fair - left won't like it but it is fair.
Smaller government, lower taxation.

Why it won't happen-
Tax and accounting professionals would rally to fight it - though they privately all agree.
Left wants bigger government and take more...
Politicians do not want accountability / transparency.
J6P is more concerned about gas prices and rolling up the rim.

It can never happen in the USA. 50 states in a union and all would need to agree. Canada has a stronger, centalized system where "national" change can happen easily. We already have a consumption tax, we implemented SI over imperial measurement, we are small and need tax reform.... But there is no vision or strategy in government.
