What is "worth" but a measure of the ability to sell?
You can only get a return if you sell your stock. If everybody owns Microsoft stock, who are they going to sell it to?

Every stock is part financial instrument and part tulip. The 'tulip' portion of Microsoft is increasing. That's great as long as your not the last one holding the tulip.
