"The market doesn't know how to digest AMD's Q2 beat and better-than-expected guidance," said Tech Stock Pros, Investing Group Leader for Tech Contrarians. "Two factors are at play here: AMD's intra-quarter run-up of ~75%, and the fact that the sequential sales growth this quarter wasn't on the AI story the market's built for AMD, but on CPU sales, which has been our thesis. The proof is in the pudding: data center sales were down 12% Q/Q while Client & Gaming was up 23% Q/Q, in spite of the former ramping MI350. Investors aren't realizing that there is a reason AMD doesn't report its AI sales: it's not because they aren't there, but it's because they won’t live up to the hype around them. The AI story is getting put to the test earlier than we expected, and it's unlikely Lisa Su can revive it in the short term."
