"Now if they want the best..."

Definition of best is different for different people.
For some people, affordable cost is the best, and for some pushing the technical boundaries is the best and for some a product that offers a good value proposition is the best.

Q gave way too much room for MTK to grow in non-premium segments. This should have not happened. This is where they should focus strongly on.

Reality is almost always like this : Q spends lot of money and time to improve technology and find new/niche use cases for the same, works with various potential customers to adapt the new technology, carves a way into their products. And then a year or two later, MTK directly knocks that customer for a slot. Customers who always want lower cost and more alternatives, end up giving room to MTK to grow. This will forever continue.

MTK always has had only one roadmap and that is follow Q.

On a side note : ARM is possibly trying to be the next MTK and not Q.
