Jim -- Comparing the data on data shipments and revenue share for MediaTek and Qualcomm reminds me of the strategies taken by Intel in the 1990's. Intel would bring out new, faster processor chips at premium prices, and at the same time they cut prices on earlier, slower chips, forcing competitors to drop prices of competing chips, and resulting in less available funds for competitors to do R&D.

The Snapdragon 8 series gets premium prices. The lower priced Snapdragon 7 and 6 series give competitors a run for the money.
