Sounds like an old fashioned hustle at first read. Perhaps the sellers weren't savvy to some of the cons of the big city?

People always say buy the seller as well the watch. The same applies in reverse in terms of due diligence. What about that recent gold "exchange" scam in the mainland, promising returns on gold stored there?
