No surprise there. He needs to stay out of jail and his patron wants to build a resort. Needless to say, what hostages are still alive won't be for long. Some tibits from Haaretz:

IDF Chief Vows to 'Fearlessly' Voice Concerns That Expanded Gaza Offensive Risks Hostages'We're not dealing in theory, but with matters concerning life and death and protecting the state,' the Israeli army chief said before Netanyahu convened the security cabinet to discuss plans to take over Gaza

Israeli army chief of Staff Eyal Zamir addressed the ongoing dispute with the government over expanding the war in Gaza on Thursday, ahead of a cabinet meeting on the matter scheduled for the evening.

"We'll continue to express our position without fear, in a matter-of-fact, independent and professional manner," Zamir said during a situation assessment with the General Staff Forum.

Security cabinet discussion on expansion of Gaza campaign has begun
The security cabinet meeting to discuss the expansion of fighting in Gaza and Netanyahu's intention to deepen the occupation of the Strip is currently taking place in the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem.

The meeting is also attended by Israeli Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara.

Outside the venue, hundreds of protesters are calling for the release of the hostages. Among the protesters are former hostages, Ilana Gritzewsky, Arbel Yehoud, and Sharon Cunio, whose partners Matan Zangauker, Ariel Cunio, and David Cunio are still held hostage in Gaza.
