Over the past 10 years (2015 to 2025) the compounded annual growth rate in earnings for Qcom was 8.8%. It was 8.9% for the S&P 500. Qcom likey paid 50% or more in Dividends over the S&P during that same time period given an equal investment in each. So can’t really say Qualcomm underperformed the S&P from a business performance perspective. The advantage of Qualcomm over the S&P is its valuation. That valuation hurt investors over the past 10 years in terms of stock performance but sets it up for outperformance going forward which is the only thing that matters when allocating your next $ of investment capital.
