Trump likes tariffs because he sees the potential for graft and corruption. As he is already taking advantage of that potential. It is a great way to solicit bribes and punish opponents. Tim Cook wants special waivers on some tariffs? Just pony up something gold and gaudy. Boom! Wish granted! But he is doing it proudly and openly. That makes it ok, I guess.
