Cohu to buy Xcerra for $796 million after blocked Chinese deal

(Reuters) - Cohu Inc will buy rival Xcerra Corp for about $796 million, the semiconductor testing company said on Tuesday, two months after a U.S. security panel blocked Xcerra's sale to a Chinese state-backed fund.
The deal also comes months after Cohu tried to break Xcerra's agreement with China's Hubei Xinyan, citing national security concerns.
Xcerra shareholders will receive $9 in cash and 0.2109 share of Cohu common stock for each share held, valuing Xcerra shares at $13.92 each, Cohu said in a statement.

They are conservative and it took a while to sell of non core divisions and consolidate their manufacturing ops.

It is a great turnaround story that took a small company quite a while to get rightsized.

Once new systems begin to sell, they'll print money like few can.

Current CEO cut his teeth in Teradyne and has upgraded margins by getting into metrology and testing/inspection (higher margins). I hope KLAC buys them - I've said that for decades. sigh.
