There are other competitors out there.

COHR has been trying to roll up the sector via acquisition.

It is without a doubt IMO where the industry is going.

Years b.ck I qwned quite a lor of KVHI. They bought a high bandwidth modulater when they bought out a divisiion from Harris. There satellite products required fiber optic gyros that Harris made and they exited the business. I got a tour of their facility south of Chicago and learned a layman's knowledge of fiber optic light transmissiond

It is neat stuff, but not a mainstream product as it is expensive and a bit of rocket science. (to me anyhow)

Modulated light can be sent on fiber optic cable by sending the light at different angles thru the glass and different colors.

Fiber optic gyros set up on three axis are what allows Musk to recover his booster sections by landing them back on the ground or his floating docks. Very neat technology at the speed of light!

They are also a big part of autonomous vehicles and phase array antennas.
