Put it this way, I'm 2mos into my 2 1/2 mos Europe visit. One word sums up my visit, "civilized". Helsinki is a modern city, beautiful walkabouts to the city center about 1.5k or so distant from my accomodation, of which was just a few hundred meters from the water. Seems as if Helsinki was designed to be happy human habitat.. interesting & livable as it sits on a peninsula in the Baltic Sea. I walked everyday except for my last day.. took the M1 subway 2 stops to the train station. If one wants to see what train life should be, then take one of Finland's modern VR trains.. mine was Helsinki to Turku, along Finland's southern flank. That train ride transited beautiful birch/ pine forests, scattered wheat fields of which were actively being harvested. The weather.. beautiful! From Turku.. took the "Viking Grace" overnighter to Stockholm just this morning. I do not get excited with any cruise ship. Yes, the days are still very long in early Aug.
