Imagine this scenario.

Government takes a 7% position through preferred stock; it carries a preferred dividend at the top range of "reasonable." If INTC can't make a dividend payment, the dividend is paid in more stock.

If this comes to pass, Q would be competing in the PC market with a company partially owned by the government. I wonder which company gets the government contracts to furnish PCs? (Might backfire when it comes to foreign government PC contracts - unless those governments could be convinced that lower tariffs might come their way if INTC got those PC contracts.)

The only way Q could compete is what? A share of revenues? A preferred stock offering?

Nothing good can come of this.
