PRIMUS Awarded Switched Voice License In Germany - Company Opens Frankfurt Sales Office -
McLEAN, Va., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- PRIMUS Telecommunications Group, Incorporated (Nasdaq: PRTL - news), a multi-national telecommunications company, today announced that its German unit, PRIMUS Telecommunications Deutschland GmbH, has been awarded a Class 4 telephone operator license by the German Regulatory Authority to provide switched voice service both domestically within Germany and internationally to other countries.
''Our expansion into Germany will play a significant role in PRIMUS's global growth strategy over the next several years,'' said Neil L. Hazard, executive vice president. ''Our license will allow us to own and operate international and domestic switches, providing long-distance services to retail and wholesale customers in Germany. We have purchased an Ericsson AXE-10 international telephone switch which is currently being installed in central Frankfurt. This switch will be connected to the PRIMUS global network.''
PRIMUS also announced the opening of its first office in central Frankfurt and that it has begun staffing its Germany subsidiary with sales and operations personnel.
