Bill,
The law doesn't distinguish between a fist and a sandwich.
You are wrong, as usual. The legal standard is "reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm."

There is a CLEAR difference between a fist and a sandwich.

There is also a CLEAR difference between situations that require the use of deadly force vs. situations that require less-than-lethal tools. Officers are trained to tell the difference, because if they don't, they will end up like Derek Chauvin.

Furthermore, officer-involved shootings are a HUGE pain-in-the-ass to deal with, which is why cops typically shy away from opening fire in these situations.

Of course, you're upset that the officer didn't just mag dump the guy.

P.S. - This is too funny ...
I'll also note the perp is lucky he wasn't shot and killed as he took aim with his sandwich.
The guy was right up in the officer's face. There was no warning of an "incoming sandwich." He threw it, which surprised the officers, then ran away. Unfortunately for your gestapo, he was too fast, so they had to track him down at his home, LOL ...
