My experience somewhat similar. I've found that people who say about a stock you're not happy with because it's been a loser, or that you are happy with because it's a winner, "Sell, you can always buy back later", are wrong because in actuality it's difficult to buy back. You move on, or talk yourself out of buying back, or don't have the cash, etc. I try to mitigate this by maintaining for a while, a stub position. Keeps me aware of the stock, and somehow makes it easier to add more shares.
