That isn't the jab you think it is. RuZZia is essentially a soulless nation.

The wives of the cannon fodder LOVE the fact that they're being paid handsomely for their husbands getting killed or severely wounded in combat. They're purchasing fur coats and luxury handbags that they couldn't normally afford. Many intercepted phone calls capture the sense that these wives don't really give a shit about their husbands and whether they come back home in one piece.

This should not be surprising considering the fact that RuZZia has a divorce rate around 70%. They don't see marriage as a sacred bond where two become one. They simply see it as a cohabitation arrangement. (Of course, that's an oversimplification, but the statistics speak for themselves.)

That's how cheap life has become in RuZZia. This is also the reason why RuZZia can continue throwing meat into the grinder and brag about "unstoppable forward momentum," even though ultimately these sacrifices will end up being utterly meaningless.
