SaltyDog, You and I are value investors and hope to beat the momentum investors and institutional investors to the good stocks! Both BJS and ESV are rated "1" by Zack's Subscription Service, which is a strong buy. Technically both ESV and BJS have moved from "avoid" to "neutral" ratings- i.e., they are improving technically too. We may be a little early, but I'm happy..... The drop in oil prices since I work in the industry, I believe will simply shake out the poorly capitalized companies. If WTI Crude stays above $15/bbl, then good profits can be had. That is because of the incredible impact that technology has had on the oil industry. The cost of producing a barrel of oil had dropped significantly over the last five years- indeed this technological knowhow is what makes foreign countries invite American Oil Companies back in. But even with the pullback in Asia economically, realize that world demand for oil will continue to grow. For example-and this may surprise you- did you know that 33 of 40 sub-Saharan African Countries had economic growth rates higher than their population growth rates last year? The point being that world demand for energy will continue to grow as "Pax Americana" spreads capitalism to the farthest ends of the earth.... I have seen graphic examples of this fact in many places... Sincerely, Doug F.
