Regarding the following excerpt from the BARS transcript:

Q: Vitesse (produces OC3/OC12/OC48/OC192 chip sets - sat through their presentation since it was an hour before ASND's), is showing strong growth beginning in Q3 and running through 2000. Does that confirms ASND's expectations of ATM sales prospects?
A: Yes, it is encouraging. He went on to mention who they do buy their chips from, which I missed.

I was interested in loading up on VTSS early last year when it traded as low as 18. Unfortunately, I didn't follow through and the stock more than doubled soon after. There are only 3 main competitors in the company's niche, and I understand that they are the leader. I had no idea that they manufactured the chips that are key components of ATM switches.

Does anyone have any idea who ASND buys these chips from, and/or the same info regarding any competitors? Considering that ATM will be the fastest growing sub-sector of networking over the next couple years, the companies that sell the "guts" of the equipment sound like fine investments and vehicles to capitalize on the success of ATM going forward. Kind of like last year when I owned INVX for similar reasons as the leading supplier to the DD makers...that payed off very well, and I would like to repeat the strategy. While the networkers are at each others throats, ATM equipment will be sold regardless, and these chip makers shall reap the rewards.
