The ISM releases on Tuesday, September 2 (manufacturing) and Thursday, September 4 (services) could be surprising to many who do not follow S&P Global.

If S&P Global is right (they typically are), the US economy is actually quite strong and employment growth has strengthened in August.

While the strong economy may not seem likely, the tariffs have created a mini boom-bust effect since the start of this year that is back in boom form after the spring bust.

It remains to be seen if the "bust" returns in the 4th Qtr.
