Since the current reciprocal tariffs are going to be thrown out, the administration has been quickly moving to "investigations" into broad commodity categories.

First up is appliances. They've now added furniture to the list.

The intent is to capture broad categories under a separate statute like what was done earlier this year with Steel, Aluminum, and Copper.

I would assume the new categories are going to be subject to 50% tariffs once each "investigation" is completed.

I don't know exactly how much time the "investigation" takes, but I believe it is either 60 or 90-days. Grok would probably know.

The intent is to make sure that once the reciprocal tariffs are thrown out on appeal, there are near equivalents lined up for large categories of products to capture as much revenue as the reciprocal tariffs had tried to.
