With the new tariffs on broad categories of commodities, it will be up to companies or advocacy groups to bring challenges in court.

If the administration puts 50% tariffs on everything they "investigate", it could be argued that the tariffs are not a true policy response to an investigation but a means to an end that has been predetermined. That would be the best possible argument that could get them thrown out. However, this is likely a spring 2026 thing at the earliest (throwing the tariffs out).

When 2027 rolls around and if the tariffs are not struck down, we will probably see legislation to reverse these tariffs once it is clear to voters that tariffs are indeed a tax on goods paid mostly by consumers. It may not be able to withstand a veto, but tariffs may be so unpopular by then that a veto could be overturned.

This is just speculation right now. The TV show's ratings would need to be in the low 30% range for all this to be plausible. With about 22-24% locked in as approvals, that would mean 75% of independents would have to disapprove of the TV show to get to that low 30% range. It's possible after a turnover in the mid-terms, but not a sure thing by any stretch of the imagination.

Another thing people may need to consider it that once gridlock is solidly in place and guardrails are put on the executive branch, T-money may get bored and want to move on to other interests.
