I had my share of very strange people in SI. I started here in late 1997. My discussions were most in telecoms then as the Tech Bubble kicked in. Overtime I discovered I knew much more than most of the people. One character called MikeM54321. He was hellbent on putting his money in telecom stocks even though he was a boat builder. He was successful in his business and was investing on telecom stocks. I was working in Prague in the Czech Republic and he came visiting me with his fiancée in the Winter 2000-2001. i was shocked he was so arrogant on his superficial knowledge. He had never in his life seen telecom gear. I took to a site on tope of an old communist hotel there which was the first time he saw telecom gear. He was telling me an one of my engineers who followed us, that that gear there would be replaced by 3G telecom and he would make money in those companies he had invested in. Following the visit I started explaining to him that he should be careful, we did not know how fast or which telecom standard would win and there was the talk of a bubble... He didn't listen or considered. I told my wife. This guy is asking to be f...ed 3 months later the Dotcom Bubble burst and he lost everything. His last posting is from October 2001. He wrote about the amount of money he saved and lost and the his fiancée left him. Member 4417372 I felt sorry for the guy even though I told him to be careful.
