I sort of regret not moving into San Francisco, but I don't really miss Oakland. We had a great two years (especially for the kids, school was a 6 minute walk, and all the neighborhood kids lived nearby), but one reason for leaving was to just try something new. Helps that in Florida housing costs are probably 50% of what they are in the Bay Area near SF. I didn't get any pleasant fun vibe feeling from the scene in Oakland, it felt like more of a run down sketchy place with often scary setting than the California dream. Was nice to be near Cal Berkeley and SF, though.
