Warren Buffett’s Bearishness Tramples On The ‘Money Multiplier’ Myth
By John Tamny,Contributor.Forbes
Sep 01, 2025

Forbes

Buffett doesn't hold commercial paper via money markets which would be lending to securities firms.

As of the first quarter of 2025, Berkshire Hathaway holds approximately $314 billion in U.S. Treasury bills, making it the largest non-government holder of short-term U.S. debt and accounting for about 5% of the entire Treasury bill market. This significant investment in short-term government debt is a result of Warren Buffett's strategy to park excess cash in the safest available instruments while waiting for better investment opportunities.
