Extreme Temperature Diary- Tuesday September 2nd, 2025/ Main Topic: China and Japan Warming Rapidly a Climate Changing World – Guy On Climate

Dear Diary. Yesterday on the first day of meteorological fall I got an astounding note concerning China and Japan from weather historian Maximiliano Herrera:
And astounding heat continues into September:

As I’ve long suspected, many other portions of the world are warming faster than the United States due to climate change, and that would include China and Japan. Perhaps this is due to Asia being the largest land mass, but I’m scratching my head to come up with answers.

In any case, a heat dome over the two countries seems to keep going on and on as opposed to what happens here in which numerous heat domes build then collapse over the course of summer:

Note the large area of above average 500 millibar heights depicted in orange.

The associated marine heatwave now extends from coastal Asia all the way eastward to North America:

We will stay on top of Asian climate trends going into 2026.

Meteorological summer is now in the books. It was the 3rd hottest in Tampa's history. Tampa International Airport hit two major milestones in 2025. First 100 degree day on record and the hottest heat index on record (119)! Both all-time highs at the end of July.

Florida summer mornings have warmed up significantly over the past few decades. We now see 7X the # of 80 degree mornings in Tampa!! (as an example) This graphic shows the dramatic rise in 80 degree morning lows. The summer (June-Jul-Aug) long-term average is 4… but now-a-days we see about 30! 1/

Up to 70% this morning on our African tropical wave. Here are the Euro Ensemble Spaghetti plots. It’s far out there and there’s plenty of time to track. Odds are it stays a fish storm but that’s not for certain.

“Ministers must scrupulously avoid any danger of an actual or perceived conflict of interest between their ministerial position and their private interests.” It seems that even out of Office, the Tories are still cocking a snook at the Ministerial Code.

Tawas Lake is a beautiful example of a shallow lake, teeming with life. Read the article to view gorgeous photos and read about how this NE Michigan community is working to balance wild rice/manoomin conservation with recreation and invasive species management.
