Now is your chance to tell Carney to get rid of equalization payments. Sign the petition.

You know that equalization is the worst deal in Confederation.

That’s why your lawyers at the CTF are going to court to stop the provinces from taking even more equalization money from taxpayers.

Equalization is a big pot of taxpayer money that is taken from taxpayers in successful provinces. The federal government hands out this money to politicians in other provinces.

Equalization is unfair to taxpayers who pay into it but don’t get anything back. It’s also unfair to taxpayers in recipient provinces because it rewards their politicians for doing a bad job.

Equalization is costing taxpayers $25 billion this year. That’s enough money to build a brand-new hospital every two weeks.

And now, the government of Newfoundland and Labrador is suing Ottawa for even more equalization money.

That’s a step in the wrong direction. We don’t think Ottawa’s lawyers have taxpayers’ best interests at heart. That’s why your lawyers at the CTF are intervening to give taxpayers like you a voice.

Prime Minister Mark Carney should start phasing out equalization until it’s eliminated altogether.

This is your chance to push back against the equalization scheme.

You can make a difference by signing the petition – but you’re not just adding your name. When you sign the petition, you become part of the fight against equalization. With this heating up in the courts, your support can make all the difference.

Will you sign the PETITION calling on Carney to phase out equalization?

We, the undersigned, call on the prime minister to phase out equalization.

As a British Columbian, I think it’s crazy that we’re sending billions of dollars out east, when our local emergency rooms are closing and kids are going to school in double-stacked portables.

Thanks for standing up for taxpayers — you’re making a difference!

All the best,

Carson Binda, British Columbia Director
Canadian Taxpayers Federation

P.S.: If you’re all in on fighting taxes, you might like setting up monthly donations to the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. Automatically chipping in means that every time you open an email about a hot new campaign, you don’t need to find your credit card – you’re already in the fight. And you’ll get perks like The Taxpayer Magazine and insider emails from CTF President Scott Hennig. It’s easy to set up on our secure site: taxpayer.us1.list-manage.com
