when I was a kid My Dad bought a run down house in a good neighbourhood, built in the 1930's, it what was known as a BC box and cost around $7000. Dad had a new gas furnace installed, it had been a coal furnace, new roof and paint the house was livable and looked OK. On a couple of streets up from us a new house was built and I heard it cost $30,000 to build. geeze that seemed unbelievable at the time 30k for one house. You can not buy anything for under a million in that neighbourhood today probably closer to 2 million, its the primo area in that town
