It's a very congenial group. Of course, being smarter than the average investor is not a great achievement.
By the way, my first involvement with SI was more than 30 years ago, before the dot-com bubble. I made my first fortune - on CSCO - as a result of dumb luck, after getting into a conversation with the guy next to me on a flight from NZ to US, and asking him what he thought was a good investment (because he was in the tech world, maybe even with Cisco). I also did well with MSFT and DELL. I lost most of that fortune later (that's another story, involving miners) and have been clawing it back, slightly wiser now.
