The BI features two towering volcanoes, each nearly 14,000' high. They do an amazing job of protecting us from direct hits. The unstoppable force meets the immovable object(s)! However, the Hilo side can get heavy rains and flooding, which, considering they are in a La Nina drought, they will be glad to receive any and all rain.
