I regrettably didn't live an orderly life in my late teens/early twenties. When I was tested on the 4th day of basic training in the USAF, I had the highest score by far of the flight of 48 guys in the EDPT, the Electronic Data Processing Test. But I didn't take the school because it took a year to finish, the longest of all of them. Opted for a defense intelligence specialty that finished in 5 months. I just wanted to be done with training and get stationed somewhere.

The electronics school gave a skill transferrable to civilian life, the other barely did.

I'm glad you learned something starting in high school that you were able to pursue as a career. That's a great use of the teen years to hone in on one's future path.
