I saw a cool graphic on the news. It overlaid the path of the water that came down from the mountains in the US and flooded the Abbotsford Prairie during the big atmospheric river a few years ago with the path of the plume of smoke from the fire in Washington that started off our current smoky skies. The paths are almost identical -- the smoke/water heads north, spills across the border, and then makes a sharp turn to the west to follow the Fraser Valley, hemmed in by mountains, towards Vancouver and the coast.

It's nasty right now. 99.9% of the time when it gets hot in Vancouver we can open our windows and doors in the morning to cool our homes down before the afternoon heat. It did cool down last night to the usual 14-15C ranger but we can't open our doors and windows right now because of the smoke.

I am going to have to go outside for a while today to water and pick the garden. I am not looking forward to it....
