Target and Walmart staff say they are being asked to rip price tags from clothing in anticipation of tariff-related price hikes.

Social media has been flooded with videos from people claiming to be employees at the retail giants, showing racks of clothing with tags removed.

Some say they spent entire shifts tearing off labels so they can be swapped with higher prices later.

The latest figures show that core inflation ticked higher last month as President Trump's tariffs on foreign goods continue to make their way through the economy, hitting consumers' wallets.

Shoppers have also noticed price tags in the stores that the bottom portion of tags missing, adding fuel to speculation that the chains are preparing to mark up prices..

Neither Walmart nor Target responded to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

Content creator Mykala Montalbano, claiming to be a Target employee, said she spent 'almost a whole eight hour shift... having to rip off EVERY individual price' from clothing at the store.

Another video, made by someone alleging to be a Walmart employee, shows them taking clothing tags off items from Walmart's Child of Mine by Carter range.
