Seoul holds emergency meeting after citizens detained in US Hyundai raid (BBC)

At worst (and that's assuming anything coming out of the Trump regime is legit), this is looking like a giant fukk-up by Hyundai. Apparently they sent hundreds of Korean nationals to the plant with visas that don't give them the legal right to work.

But if this is a mere screw-up with the type of visas that they were granted, the Trump regime could have resolved this quietly without doing a bunch of theatrics that make Hyundai look like an employer of iLlEgAl aLiEnS.

In short, this is yet another publicity stunt that shouts, "Look at me! Me! I'm doing something about iLlEgAl aLiEnS, the wurst of the wurst!" Trump doesn't give a shit about whether he is embarrassing a major Korean chaebol that has pledged to invest billions of dollars into American manufacturing. To him, all he cares about are the dumbass MAGA cultists, who carry the collective intelligence (and wealth) of Beavis and Butthead.

Meanwhile ...

- Hyundai is suspending most business trips to the US.

- Trade talks are ongoing between the U.S. and Korea. MAGA will never understand that just because Trump announced a trade deal with Korea doesn't mean there is a trade deal. It takes months to hammer out a real agreement, but Trump just fukked up that process.

- Employees of LG, another chaebol, are also affected, not just Hyundai.

- Here's something we rarely see these days. A politician who takes responsibility. From the article, "South Korea's Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun said he felt a 'great sense of responsibility for the arrest of our citizens' as he presided over an emergency meeting about the issue on Saturday."

- LG is also suspending most business trips to the US and directing employees on assignment in the US to return home immediately.

- I'm not sure how Samsung or SK Hynix are responding to this. Both of those companies have a lot of employees working here in Silicon Valley. I'm sure the Korean nationals who are working in those offices are probably thinking of returning home ASAP.

What a shit show this is. I hope you're happy, MAGA ...
