Sounds like you are making great progress on your remodeling!

I still love the pavers and after having the Kitchen & Family room turned into a great room and the walls were insulated, that third of the house is much better in heat and cold. With those beautiful, new pavers wrapped around it, during the winter I can open the door and window on sunny days, turn on a fan and let the low sun heated pavers warm that part of the house. I thought the huge pergola would block more of the sun in the winter, but was pleasantly surprised to see the lower angle and loss of two big oak trees put the garden in sunshine rather than full shade most of the winter and the patios get plenty of direct sunlight. It was really nice to get a few hours of fresh, sun heated air in most days during the winter.

I looked into getting fancy appliances but I'm too practical... don't need to spend $10K to grill a hamburger or bake a turkey or lasagna. I did spend top dollar for the thick steel sink and faucet... and a nice, made in SF range hood. I talked to the fancy kitchen shop owner about his new Thermador or Viking range and he said his wife loves it but he's already spent for a service call about what I paid for my $1,500 LG range. We chuckled when I said I'll just buy a new one if it needs a $1,000 repair!
